Ireland have voted no to the Lisbon Treaty, potentially restricting the enlargement of the EU, thus Turkey's membership.
What does this mean for Cyprus and the will of the EU to work for a solution?
The president of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Poettering, says the Irish referendum "No" meant further expansion of the 27-nation Union was impossible for now, with the possible exception of Croatia.

Europe is a joke guys cmon... we will all be just like Greece... living on 700Eur salary, hopping from bank to bank to re-mortgage your LIFE and pass all debt to your children... Cyprus is flooded with low quality Romanians and Polaks, Asylum Seekers, crime rates gone bizzare, middle class is dissolving... Cyrus government is now becoming more creative in getting revenue from people... talking about today's proposal for 400% increase in business licensing / municipality services / council tax... VAT will be increased too. Petrol got out of control... Cyprus having 320 days a year extreme sunshine still dependent on OIL? Solar power anyone? Ridiculous and outrageous...
My advice to Turkey, stay out of Europe for your own good.... special economic / trading union with EU - perfect, but no more than that... there will be no CYprus problem solution... jeez, stop wasting Database rows for this. |
