bigdog, disregarding the 'Politics' of the action and looking at the action itself, would you not agree that it would take considerable courage for a man to consciously starve himself to death ?.
Would not such an action emphasize that such a person MUST have great faith in the validity of his cause ?.
Can you think of any circumstance which would commit you to such drastic action ?. |
I don`t think Bobby Sands had any real reason to starve himself , he didn`t even come from a republican background .
Instead of courageous I would say stupid or misled .
I don`t think there is any circumstance for me to commit such an action as I think one has to be fanatical about their cause and I have no cause to be fanatical about . What about you Eliko ?

bigdog, I can think of no circumstance which would cause me to take THAT action, I do not fear death and would opt for a quicker exit myself.
Particularly if old miltiades was on my tail !!.
Best Wishes and Goodnight. |

Hi Eliko and BigDog
I have just viewed the video of this song
The band are very good and the full lyrics excellent in the story they tell.
But from a personal point of view I feel that it is better to listen to the song without the video.
I know it was done by the band with a specific situation in mind and the video shows this.
A passionate, heartfelt, and, very beautiful song which sends a message of hope to all the perscecuted people in the world
For those who maybe interested here is a link. Listen without judgement of the scenario in the video

Its good for you that you can view things with such an open mind Richard. I can`t bring myself to do this after seeing so much evil by the people this band glorify .

If you do not view things with an open mind, how can you make a decision about what is happening.?. I think there is a lot in the song I have just heard which could be applied to Cyprus, wherever the British have been, they seem to be able to stir up problems for the people who live there.
There are a lot of Irish people around where I live, a lot of them say that the Irish from the north are different from them in the south because they are more British than Irish, I wonder if the same thing is happening in Cyprus, the evil things you say you saw was only because the people the band was singing about fought against an invading army.
I think more people should listen to the words and think about why they were written and who wrote them. |

| Correction, I meant to say that the Irish in the south say that the Irish in the north, or northern Ireland, are more English than Irish. |
