| Not knowing what the banner says, I'd imagine that it's a group of Turkish soldiers who have been overrun and massacred. The riders are a support column who arrived too late. Upon arriving, they witness the pool of blood with the crescent and star reflected in it and take this as a symbol of their resistance. |
