EOKA-B: Current Status?

Postby Earnshaw » Tue Sep 07, 2004 7:41 pm

Hi,

I'm researching a paper for school concerning EOKA, and in particular, EOKA-B. I seemed to recall somewhere that it is now disbanded. Can anyone provide me with either (a) a rough date that it was disbanned, or (b) even better, an official URL that states its current status?

Thanks in advance,

Darrell

EOKA and EOKA-B are two separate organizations. The first one was fighting against the colonialists and it had the support of the majority of Greek Cypriots, while the second one was fighting against a democratically elected government and its supporters where only a small minority.

I believe EOKA-B was disband in 74. In any case its members were not organized in any way after 74, although most of them found refugee in the DISY party.

Thanks, Piratis.

Yes, I understand they had different primary goals, but ultimately, weren't they both fighting for ENOSIS (firstly against the British, then against Makarios' government)?

Hi Darrell

Welcome to the site

I (and others I think) find the site www.cyprus-conflict.net a very good source re the cyprus conflict.

I am not sure if you know this or not (and if you do then appologies) but you can get google to restrict a search to a single site using the 'site:' prefix, so if you search google for

"eoka b" site:www.cyprus-conflict.net

(including the " round eoka b) you will get all references to eoka b (but not just eoka) from the cyprus-conflict.net site.

Hope this is of some help
