I wish people would just stop every now and then and take a long hard look at the rubbish they discard everywhere and see it through the eyes of tourists who think they are coming to a beautiful island.............this place is so nice, yet people just dump old cars, fridges, electrical items, excess concrete, broken tiles/bricks...............people throw rubbish out their car windows rather than take it home - and NO it isn't just ex-pats.

Cyprus is NEVER EVER going to get the upmarket tourism it wants whilst people just dump rubbish wherever they feel like.

it would seem that more and more people have had it with england...,m so glad that my children want to leave this god forsaken country and settle to new life in cyprus..

i like most things about cyprus and have'nt found much to dislike.i,m sure that will change once we live there...

Isn't there an existing infrastructure for recycling in Cyprus? Or for the disposal ofrecyclable materials? I mean Cyprus is only a small island, a little rubbish goes a long way!!

Recycling??? There are a few companies, but for the home owners it is not well developed. You can only recycle paper at very few places and cans at the Makario Hospital, and the money received is used for medical equipment purchase for that hospital.

Sounds like a business opportunity to me. If there is money to be made from scrap metal? You'd only need a truck with a HyAb crane. Make some money and claen the place up at the same time.

Hi,

New member (Lovejoy).

Having visited numerous Greek Islands and seriously thinking of relocating our sub zero degrees C' Scottish butts to the Med, I read with interest , the various likes and dislikes of Cyprus, (not been yet) !

Should we -
1.Seriously consider living and working on Cyprus ?
2.Look elsewhere on the Med ?
3.Remain in the deep freeze ?

If I receive a positive response to Q1, what are the chances of an Electronics engineer / part time DJ earning a crust ?

Hello and welcome Lovejoy! You should first come for 1-2 weeks in Cyprus to see how you like it. Have you lived abroad for long periods before? No matter how good the place you are emigrating to there will always be some things you will miss from your homeland. Will you be able to live without them?
