mobile internet connection

Postby Brendan » Mon Apr 16, 2007 11:04 am

Hi all

I am soon to take my first holiday in Cyrus.

I will be staying in a Villa in the Coral Bay area.

The villa has no landline phone so i want if possible to use my mobile as a modem.

Can anyone give advice if this is possible and the best way of me doing this.
if not what sim card can I use to connect via my mobile phone gprs.

I will be working on the internet for 2-4 hours per day and would prefer to work at the villa rather than drive to a local hotel for access twice a day.

Thanks'
Brendan

As I know GPRS price is 30 CYP per month here. Or 2 CYP per 1 MB of bandwidth for temporary users which is extremely expensive.

You can check both Areeba and CYTA for GPRS services.

You can also check for 3G coverage which is faster from GPRS and there is also a data card that you can put in your notebook so you will not need a mobile phone to connect.

How much does it cost?

Thanks.

So, the prices for 3G are the same as for normal GPRS. 2.05 CYP ex VAT per MB.

Brendan, from the hardware side of things you'll need to get a PCMCIA GPRS card. Here's what they look like...

Nokia were the only ones I could find 3-4 years ago when I had to buy a couple for a rich customer to be used on his luxury yacht but nowadays there are many brands it seems. Good luck.
