Does anyone know of any car hire companies that are located close to any of the border crossings that hire out cars for travel in the south?

I wish to hire a car in the south to travel to Paphos for the day to collect a friend before travelling back to the north crossing the border on foot.

You probably didn't get a reply as you called the UN buffer zone a "border" !! ...

...To the people in the "south" the only "borders" in CY are the Med.

You can contact all the normal car hire cos. in Nicosia ( Alamo, Europcar etc.) and take a taxi to their offices.

I'm in Limassol, so I'm not up on the location of their offices in Nicosia.

The internet will help you find locations / tel nos.
