I can only comment on Escape Beach..
From what i hear the enterance fee is 15YTL this year and already many people are complaining about this..
No matter how good the facilities are no one should be allowed to charge so much enterance fee to a beach which in reality belongs to the public!!

Alsancak(KARAVAS) is a beautiful tranquil village nestled in the foothills of Kyrenia mountains. From pine clad mountains to fertile plain Alsancak is home to some of the most popular holiday accommodation on the island. Also near to Alsancak is Escape Beach , located 5 miles from Kyrenia the sandy beach is clean and well protected making it an ideal location for children. Like many of the beaches on the island a small fee is payable when using the Alsancak beach and its facilities. Another popular family beach can be found at the Deniz Kizi, a variety of water sports are on offer here, including, windsurfing, parascending, water skiing and inflatable fun rafts for children. Jet skis are also available for hire.

Alsancak is part old Cyprus, part building site. Where exactly you are staying will have a great impact on how you feel about it when you leave.

With children car, hire is strongly recommended unless you are in a hotel with a regular shuttle service. There are mini-buses that go along the coast road but their is nothing like a regular bus service that you may be used to in UK.

The nearest hospital is Girne/Kyrenia (quite good actually) as are most of the English speaking doctors. Unless it’s an emergency go into Girne – if it’s an emergency phone for an ambulance, which will take you into Girne more quickly.

Best restaurant – impossible to answer without knowing your tastes, but opening restaurants is a national pastime. The smartest are probably nearer to Girne and there are a clutch of them in and around Karaolanoglu. Then there are dozens of simpler places to stop and have a meal beside the sea.

With a car, you have an array of castles (Girne, St Hilarian, Buffavento and Kantara) which should keep your children happy if they are boys; might even interest them if they are girls. Salamis is good for a day out. Also tandem hang-gliding, much enjoyed by my children, and quadbiking for the 14 yr old. Swimming too – take one of the boat trips along the coast, all starting at the Old Harbour

Escape Beach is a perfect beach with lots of facilities, including imported sand, but it is expensive for 4 people going every day. From Alsancak head west for about 10 minutes and just before the road turns inland there are free beaches. Simpler facilities and a few rocks to walk over but the same sea.

I assume that you mean gift shops. TRNC is not really a “touristy place” and souvenir shops are few and far between. If you want them, go to Girne and look between the Old Harbour and The Dome Hotel.

Soya milk is not a problem – my wife and son are lactose intolerant – but you would have to go to one of the larger supermarkets. I doubt that you’d find it in Alsancak – Try the big Lamar on the Alsancak side of Girne. You can also get rice milk.

Hope this helps/ Have a good holiday.

Many thanks to all of you, i really apprecait all your comments and will makes notes on all of them!

We are staying near crystal cove in an apartment which i am told is about 300metres from the beach, so hopefully this is fairly central to everything. I am not too bothered by the building work as long it is not directly outside my bedroom window! Ithin you have to appreciate to a certain extent that that sort of thing goes on.

Thanks again to all of you :D
