OH PLEASE let there be part 3!!!!!!!! :D

Loved them all Natty, every single one. The Greeks singing in Turkish were suprisingly good with the language and needless to say the music and pictures were fantastic.

Unlike alot of TCs I really like traditional Anatolian music too. I'm very much into dancing, music and the arts in general. I have a very good Anatolian Greek CD that I'm sure you'd love. It's called 'Guardians of Hellenism - Konstantinoupoli' Despite it's dodgy name it's a very good CD, and the music is outstanding. Even though I don't understand a word I feel like I understand the whole thing through the music.

I have the same CD but the Cyprus volume too, and thats just as good if not better, it's true that music is a language in itself really....

Ta Melahrina* has to be one of my favorite Cypriot songs in the world now, haven't stopped listening to it since I first heard it. I probably wouldn't like it as much if I heard the "village remix" (if you know what I mean ) but the professional way it's composed and sung on the CD is breathtaking.

Actually the whole Ellines Akrites series is pure class, not interested in the other islands since I don't feel I can relate to them but the Cyprus and Anatolia volumes are money well spent imo...

Please add more videos, even if you find one here and there, it would only take a few seconds to copy/paste into a post. Thanks again, looking forward to more! :)

* Whats the song about by the way?

So glad you enjoyed the Videos TC! Sorry for the late reply, I haven't really had a chance to get on the Net recently…

It's really great to (virtually :) ) meet someone who enjoys a lot of the same things as you do! I too enjoy dancing and music, etc. Admittedly I'm also a bit of a history Nut, so I love learning about how people lived, from the music they listened to and how they danced, to how they dressed and what they ate, folklore I guess (except maybe the food aspect). And being from Cyprus, I'm particularly interested in Cypriot Folklore and the surrounding countries, as well as the general history of the area as well..

I'm definitely going to have to get that CD! Did you order it off the internet? I have to admit I do quite like Nisiotika (Greek Island) music. There's a great CD by Parios (From the Island of Paros), he's a great singer and though it's more village ( ) the musicians are very good.

'Ela Na Pame' Parios

However, saying that Cypriot music is the best, not that I'm biased...

I'm pretty rubbish at song tittles so I’m not sure which song "Ta Melahrina" is, although I can tell you that if you're described as ‘Melahrini’ you’re a dark girl (Hair, eyes, skin), and ‘Melahrinos’ a dark boy. "Ta Melahrina" is plural and means (I believe) 'The dark', the dark what exactly I'm not entirely sure..

I’ll ask my Grandmother, she’s the Cypriot song expert in my family...

BTW, part three is coming soon, this was just a quick visit to the forum… :)

This clip is dedicated to TC.

I reckon they are closely linked to Chiroikitians as they seem of Phoenician or Semitic origine.

Sorry TC. No offence. [/youtube]

TC, Goodmorning.

One of the books you lent me, has a photograph of me at the Kophinou Primary School. I just finished reading it. It was the last Village mentioned.
I cant believe how dark I was. (and handsome  )

Selamlar.
