First bicommunal marriage?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

First bicommunal marriage?

Postby metecyp » Mon Feb 23, 2004 6:13 pm

I've just read in Halkin Sesi (T/C newspaper) that a T/C man and a G/C woman got married. They are from Australia, they came to Cyprus for wedding, and they got married in the north. Now, they'll be returning back Australia.

I think this is a good way of getting people trust each other. Maybe in Annan plan, we should say bicommunal couples get tax-cuts in federal goverment or something like that, I think it's worthed!

Gc-Tc marriage

Postby tcypriot » Mon Feb 23, 2004 8:14 pm

That's not the first example of a marriage between a tc and a gc.Also they dont live in cyprus so it's not that important. It will be the happy day when cypriots speaking different languages marry each other and leave in cyprus(there are examples even now)

i desagree a bit about the order. i think they should trust each other first and then get married
I also disagree about tax-cuts. The support should come from the society by showing that such marrieges are perfectly normal like any other marriege.
I don't think thats the first example either. I think people that are not very religious will not have a problem with that.

Thanks for enlightening us! I thought you get married first and then you trust the person :-) I was just talking about people around the bicommunal couples, and the people of Cyprus in general. I was just trying to say that bicommunal marriages will definetely increase the interaction between relatives of the couple, and step by step, relatives would be more accepting towards the other side. And in the long run, people of Cyprus would start trusting each other if there are enough marriages since the other side would basically be an extended family! I wasn't talking about trust between couples, but I guess you figured that out now.
I also disagree about tax-cuts. The support should come from the society by showing that such marrieges are perfectly normal like any other marriege.

Of course, but it doesn't hurt for the new goverment of Cyprus to show that it supports such marriages.

Yes i wish that...But i want to tell you something. My grandfather was married with a Gc woman ! They had a happy marriage till they had a son! They divorced from what? Guess?

What will be the name of their son!? Andreas or Mehmet
What will be the religion of him? he will be circumcised or won't be!

This and some other simple problems brought the end and one day my grandfether's wife gone to London without informing him! Their son's name is George now.My grandfather saw his son after so many years but he was happy that he saw his son before he die! :(

I didn't tell this event to blame anyone ... Just i want to show that religion and someother can cause problems! But i beleive these can be passed over with understanding. Its not impossible to have a happy marriage!
