In the late 1980s and early 1990s there was a succession of devastating forest fires in the south of France, Corsica, and in Spain. Arson was suspected but no suspects were found, until that is suspicion fell upon a
part-time firefighters who were found to be remarkably close to the source of each fire instantly ready to fight the fires.

There was no need to turn to a foreign conspiracy, or an electoral battle, or even rampant developers for an explanation for the outbreak of fires. In each country, in each case, retained part-time fire fighters were only paid for the hours that they fought fires ! No fire, no pay.
In the light of those episodes the system for retaining and paying for part-time fire fighters and forest guards was changed to remove the incentive for arson !

I don't want to add to the usual groundless speculation, but I would be interested to know how firefighters and forest guards are retained and paid in the Peloppenese. Anyone know ?

Macedonia's help was rejected, most probably bsc of the logos and symbols of the Macedonian cars and firefighters might have.

Probably Greece is afraid to have anyone non-Greek bearing the name Macedonian and parading the Vergina Star inside Greece. That can be considered offensive for the bullshit mentality Greeks that live in the dark ages.

The fires havent stopped but the situation is steadily improving. The big fires are out.Smaller fires are being treated.

They have a law as they say that they didnt let the army go and help the firemen only the 4th day they let some soldiers to help...the whole country is burning and they expect from women and old men to turn off the fire ... some of the citizens refused to leave their home...i know is hart but things like houses and land can rebuild but not lives. I heard somebody saying from a village that 10 of the men were trying to fight with the fire and the rest as they said they were drinking coffee or ouzo...now tell me how clever is that? They start arguing about money but the fire is still going on. Some people went to protest for what...when the fire is still on...they don’t know how to save their country but they know very well how to argue.

They are going to get a lot of money for the poor people who lost everything...I hope those money will end up in those people’s pockets and not the big bosses.

You are a nonenity.
It was stated on this forum that the TIR's were turned away at the border and only the Aircraft were made use of. If you allowed your eyes not to be clouded by you arrogance you might have noticed.

You are right it was an ommission from my side, in such a case i can not justify the rejection of TIR uinless it was for operational reasons

That's correct. The Turkish government was heavily criticized for not sending any help by the Turkish public. It was that criticism that forced them to send two trucks with tents which were not accepted by the Greek government because, simply, they were absolutely useless. When Turkey sent a plane it was gratefully accepted.

As for the help offered from FYROM, the Greek government did the only reasonable thing by rejecting it because, trust me, their firemen carrying Vergina star logos or "Macedonia" tags would be lynched by the villagers before even reaching the fires. And then it would be the government's turn. If FYROM really wanted to help they could skip the political propaganda and just help out, no provocative logos or anything else
