Should Foreign Buyers be Sued???

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Should Foreign Buyers be Sued???

Postby Viewpoint » Wed Mar 02, 2005 11:25 pm

If Foreign buyers have purchased property on land which has been sold to them by TCs who have in turn exchanged land in the south for land in the north via TRNC, should they be sued???? if so what will happen to thousands of British/TCs who have also exchanged land and built homes in the north. Who should be sued the TC or the TRNC???

This may sound like hypocrasy but I have concerns about 'foreign' buyers being treated differently to 'cypriot' buyers (or Cypriots granted land in lieu of that lost).

If there is a legal basis for suing people in properties owned by GC prior to 74 then it should apply equally to all as far as I am concerned.

I worry at the ease at which foreigners can be made an 'enemy' and one that is worse than (say) TC. They are also people. Most of them are not 'exploiters' - just normal people. Many are not just not 'expoliters' but actually 'true friends' of TC people (as many foreign residents in the south are 'true friends' of the RoC - and some not).

Instead of selling TC properties, "RoC" "legally" nationalize them.

erolz I agree with you because I have met many English people living in the north who are genuine and not here to make a killing on Gc proeprty, they have either come her on holiday and loved the place and life style, or they have connections with TCs and settle here. Then there are the retired people who enjoy the weather and gardening. Do these people really deserve to be sued for buying a plot of land and building a house???

I can appreciate the Greek Cypriot peoples concerns but time is working against them, only this week there was another property fair in London where sales are reported as going very well. The political moves and delay tactics only make to a cementing of division, if and when the leaders decide its time to talk again one of the main issues of property a very sensitive concern becomes even more complicated and unsolvable.
