BC Numismatics, I fear you may have missed the point, in those countries you have mentioned, they can actually PLAY the game without all the toffee-nosed hype that goes with it.

Every match seems to be given a post-mortem subsequent to a loss and a jubilant appraisal in the rare event of a win, whenever England takes to the field.

I believe cricket is played in the British colonies of episkopi and dekalia ~ the ground is watered from the local sewerage plant which may give a clue as to the standard of play although to be fair I've never had the interest to go and watch.

Cricket is alive and well on the island with the league expanded to ten teams last year.
A lot of street cricket is played by the Sri Lankan contingent and these guys are also active in the leagues. Cyprus Mail recently ran an article on it and you should be able to find it in their archives

Again it is the usual story as with the rugby that there is a severe shortage of available grounds to play/practice on. Hopefully this will be rectified as the sports gain popularity and recognition.

It's a shame that the New Zealand cricket side never gets to play against the teams from outside the traditional circle of England,Australia,South Africa,India,West Indies,Pakistan,Bangladesh,Sri Lanka,& Zimbabwe.It would be cool to see a game between New Zealand & Cyprus or Scotland playing against Namibia.

Aidan all the teams you mentioned above with the exemption of Zimbabwe, play first class cricket...

Anyway Cricket season is starting soon...I hate test but love day/night cricket...

Boomerang,Zimbabwe plays both One Day & Test cricket,but it temporarily suspended itself from playing Tests in 2006.Placing sanctions on the Zimbabwean cricket side to protest against the barbaric policies of the Z.A.N.U.-P.F. regime hasn't worked.

I like the new Twenty20 form of the game in which both sides only have 20 overs in an innings instead of 50 overs as in One Day cricket.
