Property Developers in north

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Property Developers in north

Postby -mikkie2- » Fri Mar 04, 2005 2:25 pm

I was just thinking that it might be a good idea to see the scale of the problem of property development in the north by foreign firms and how they sell them to people.

I wanted to set up this thread where people can post links to property developers as and when they find them. I am not trying to get at TC's here, just to show how foreigners view our country and how they are profitting from our misfortune.

Here is one link:

Although I've got a slight issue with the direction of this thread, I agree that, in line with recommendations from European governments, it is inappropriate for foreign buyers to buy property in the north without fully appreciating the possible consequences and issues deriving from their actions.

For the purpose of research, I have tested the market myself with emails to some property agents and been assured that it's not a problem, even when I cited the cases of Loizidou and Oram, so I appreciate the point of mikkie's thread although I can also see that it could be interpreted as an slight against TC development.

Nonetheless, in the spirit of free discussion, mikkie, here are quite a number linked from a Northern Cyprus search site (which, as an aside is truly excellent, if anyone knows the site developers they are stars!)

LOL

I'll test it, see if my wife can access it from the same computer I'm using. If she can't, there's a conspiracy theory thread in that one

Looking at all those lovely properties, i can understand why so many foriegners buy amid the risk that it entails.

So can I, I had to actively discourage my parents from looking north rather than south. The price differential is so big that it's natural that foreign buyers will go for the less expensive option. If they're fully aware of the pitfalls of doing so, in my view it's up to them; but what sticks in my throat is when the agents fail to discuss the issues with them in depth... this is how we get the Orams of this world (since they're looking for a sale it's hardly likely).

Teenage Turk confesses to murder of British couple in Cyprus
An 18-year-old Turkish man has confessed to the murder of an elderly British couple who were found dead at their Cyprus home yesterday morning. The bodies of Reece Mahoney, 71, and his wife Anne, 64, were discovered by their cleaner outside their home in Lapta, northern Cyprus. They had been attacked with a knife and been dead for several days. A large amount of jewellery and Mrs Mahoney's handbag had been taken.
Ufuk Degnaki from the Turkish mainland appeared in court in Kyrenia, Cyprus, yesterday and confessed to the murders. It is believed he knew the couple, who were described as being devoted to each other and had moved to the country 20 years ago,

Does anyone have more information on this?
