A stark reality many of us don't see

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Beware of politicians who leave politics richer than they were when they started.

What will people like you do when partition is recognized, will you regret anything or kick yourselves ofr being so stubborn?? or will you still be so stubborn as to not accept the reality.

We are having defacto partition for more than 30 years. I don't think any logical GC or Tc could say it is in our best interests. From that point on we can have a)unification in a Federal structure, b) continuation of the current situation with some very minor changes, or c) official, recognized, final, agreed, sealed and signed, de -jure partition.

If the road to unification is about 100 miles long, the road to partition is 1000 miles long. Personally I don't see anything at all pointing to final partition other than the continuous efforts of the pseudo regime to alter the demographics and turn the property issue into into the biggest obstacle ever. All I see is continuation of the current situation with just a few minor changes.

Whom do you have in mind Nikitas? Perhaps you are reffering to the outgoing President and the shady deals of his office who "only wrote the company and did nothing for the last two years to promote the interests of the company". If a book is written with all the lies this President has told, it would become a bestseller overnight.

Pyrpolyser, you are making the cardinal mistake. We live in a dynamic world not a static one. Those who do not see the shifting equilibrium are suffering from myopia or at best do not know how this world is run.

Looking at how fast this "dynamic" world moved the past 30+ years, believe me I can make a pretty good estimate, of how dynamic or static or even giving a shit about Cyprus world we are living in Bananiot.

Bananiot,

It is a simple truth applicable to all politicians everywhere. Take a broad example, Eurodeputies get a salary taht aeems enormous, it is somewhere around 150 000 Euro per annum. The only Eurodeputies that end up rich on this salary are...... guess who.

The gentleman in question did not do too badly and from the look of things neither have many others on both sides of the ethnic divide. It is a safe bet that Dentash is richer today than in 1974, as are politicians on our side. There are stories of one prominent Greek Cypriot politician who has a permanent suite at a luxuryhotel in Nicosia to "be closer to the center of political developments".

Stop arguing about the man and concentrate on what he said..I have heard nothing yet that disputes all the facts he has put forward. Put them into the equation and then see what you end up with. `The ideals quoted are not within the realms of the reality. Head in sand mode is not acceptable.

I believe Rolandis was a rich person before he became a politician. That is one of the reasons he resigned a job when others would fight for their lives in order to keep it. I see your point but generalising is not a good idea.

Pyrpolyser, I fail to grasp your point. You cannot deny gravity just because nothing has fallen in the last 5000 seconds.

Kifeas wrote:Halil, being a partitionist yourself, I am sure you are also very happy and content reading the above article with Rolandie's "findings," just like Zan and VP are! Consequently, why don't you let those of us against partition to have all the worries and concerns? Why do you pretend to also be concerned? I for once, being against partition, do not share Rolandie's views and concerns, and I find his style and line of argumentation very cheap and even dangerous, for it allows partitionists like you to gleefully rejoice!

THE STILL SMALL VOICE OF REASON IN THE WILDERNESS!

Postby cymart » Mon Oct 15, 2007 4:17 pm

Thank God someone else can see the sense in Rolandis article too! Most of the vitriolic attacks on it are a very sad reflection of the mentality which still prevails here today. It seems the Greek-Cypriots are their own worse enemies in many ways-a look around at the mess they have made of the environment here, the rubbish everywhere. the overbuilding, the arrogance and the greed and their sleazy, dirty 'cabarets' where they use women like toilets!(Turkish Cypriots are equally guilty of many similar faults in the north, let's be honest!)
Even my wifes family who are Greek-Cypriots agree with me,so am I that wrong?
