i think 2 similar styles of play with Cyprus being a little more offensive and faster than Greece, while Greece would have one up on us in height and defense. We'd struggle against them because we're used to teams coming at us and frustrating them with decent defense and excellent brake play. Greece owuld be in no hurry making us attack and being vulnerable on the attack. Having said that the history between the 2 sides is pretty even matched. Now whether thats staged or not is anyones guess.

GR, I understand you consider yourself a master at setting "traps", but you obviously lack some basic football knowledge to set this one.. :D

DT, Greece is not an exclusively defence-oriented team as many believe, the team simply adopts its play to the needs of every match. In the Euro2004 tournament Greece played defencively because she was up against more experienced opponents. That's not the case when facing "equal" or "inferior" teams and yesterday's game proves that, Greece was constantly on the offence against the Turks.

I'm not sayig they are an exclusively defensive team. What i say is that their strenght comes from an overall organisation in defense. With the addition of Gekas in attack they have a great balance hwoever their difference over other teams is that they defend as a team rather than like england who leave it to their back four.

If you notice their game is always organised from a defensive midfielder Basinas and work their way up. England however apart from the long ball will always start from Gerrard or whoever else is acting as their number 10 at the time.

Cyprus are actually a very decent side. Recent results have proved this. However, they obviously lack the quality of the European Champions, Greece. This does not mean however, that they are not capable of winning against Greece. I believe that Cyprus would probably turn Greece over in Nicosia, as Cyprus are strong at home. However, Greece would undoubtedly win in Athens.

My predictions:

Cyprus 1 Greece 1 (possibly Cyprus 2 Greece 1 on a really good day)
Greece 3 Cyprus 1

Back to the topic of the thread though, what an absolutely fantastic win in Turkey. Especially after that home defeat suffered against them. It is also great for Greece to have qualified to defend their trophy. It is never the same with the holders missing. Plus, with Cyprus out, we still have a team to support!

(This is especially true for me living in England, as it doesn't seem England will even qualify!)
