Slightly stronger than I would have put it bro, but in some ways valid. I'm just quite interested in the mechanism that TPap cited the proposal had been made.

Strictly speaking, for a 'formal request' to have been made, it would have been in writing to the Secretary-General. On CNA yesterday at 1447, they posted a report saying that TPap "...explained that the proposal had been conveyed through the Cyprus Republic's Permanent Representative to the UN". There was no qualification in his statement that the proposal had not been delivered to Annan personally or to his office, but had been suggested during a meeting with Kieran Prendergast, the Under-Secretary-General. Instead it was stated quite clearly that "President Tassos Papadopoulos said today that the Greek Cypriot side had proposed to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to launch a new initiative to solve the Cyprus problem".

Either this was bad reporting on the part of CNA, or TPap dropped a bollock on this one and is now rapidly backpedalling. Whatever, it was bad form to, if not lie, at least to in some way deceive people as to what happened. It'll be interesting to see what else comes out about this.

I accept that was a bit strong but the man winds me up, he is constantly decieving people, he says and agree's to do something but then either does not do it or does something completely opposite, so is this his new stratergy to piss annan off so he will never want to do anything or what.....
The e.u is just starting to forget his referandum trick then he does it a couple of days ago to the tc with the school and now he completely lies about annan to decieve the poor gc who voted him in and trust in him to bring solution to cyprus(which is obvious he is not doing)

Anyway what a change in the u.k for two days, there is sunshine and forecast says even better tommorrow, so going after work to buy loads of meat and doing a barbie on saturday(lots of 31 will flow too) :D :D

İt will be explained away as usual, they are masters at it and the GC administration will provide some long winded explanation that the GCs will swallow and accept.

I know, it's even warm up here in 'the north' too... took the dog out for a walk in t-shirt and shorts... imagine if this was Cyprus, they'd still be wearing jumpers!

No souvla but plenty of meze, hot and cold, i can already taste that delicious meat in my mouth with a smooth 31 going down well.
Sorry about that moose but i was slobbering over tommorrow, i can't wait, i might even do a little mini barbacue when i go home in a minute if the wife has not cooked anything i fancy(very unlikely that i will fancy anything but barbie)

You not thinking of doing the same friend, if you were nearer to me i would invite you and your good wife round.

Thanks arkadaşım... if you're ever in the sticks you're welcome for souvlakia and kleftiko... my wife did kleftiko in the oven on Monday (in slight violation of the pre-Easter fast, but den pirazi), it was as if it came from the clay over at my father-in-laws... think we're having the same on Sunday

p.s. getting worried about you and all this 31 you're drinking re!

does it really matter the ROC has specifically said a month ago thats its ready for negotiotions, whats the problem if annan has accepted the 3 request that the ROC put forth on how negotions will be conducted.that would automatically put the ROC ready to negotiote.

Yes it does matter, the mans a liar and is misleading GCs into thinking he wants a solution, its just u cant or dont want to see it. Time and Mr Papadops actions will show what his real intentions are. His main concern is power and keeping it.
