Not sure if this has been posted before but there are posters advertising this site appearing over London ... there are three during my 6 mile drive home !!

Not a word about the Republic of Cyprus - so much for a pro-solution "TRNC government".

If there was no "North Cyprus" or "TRNC" but just one big happy Cyprus then there would be no requirement to advertise North Cyprus separately.

It is not sensible for the RoC to advertise areas that it has no control over. It cannot afford to advertise areas that will not benefit its tax payers and inhabitants. Whilst the island is 1/3 occupied by a foreign country it has no control.

I have a major problem with anything that contravenes the UN Resolution at the bottom of my post. The government of the country who i pay 25% of my wages to still stands by this UN resolution. Having checked the UK Foreign Office (http://www.fco.gov.uk) i quote :

The “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” is not recognised by the British Government

In common with the rest of the international community, apart from Turkey, Britain does not recognise any state in Cyprus other than the Republic of Cyprus

Advertising of the breakaway state doesn't "respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus"

I agree with Geoff (big Dutch) 100%.... but haven't these adverts been banned on London Buses, Tubes, Trams etc?

It seems to me that you ignore the term "defacto" situation. Afterwards the ratification of 3rd Vienna Agreement, a new defacto situation created in Cyprus. Turkish side is not the only responsible of ongoing defacto situation ("occupation"). The TCs living in North is not the responsible of this defacto situtaion, at all. Don't forget that they also have all kinds of human rights.

I try to only relate my answers to the specific topic in question however I do understand that the "Cyprus Problem" has multiple interlinked "issues".

I`m sure "everyone" should take responsibilities for the defacto situation.

However in my opinion encouragment should only be given to movements that "respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus". Advertising of the "breakaway state" doesn't do this in my opinion, these adverts are doing the opposite.

I cannot see how the human rights of inhabitants are being violated by stopping the advertising ? Surely it would be possible to counter that if the advertising of the break away state is ok, that my human rights are being violated by the "defacto situation". As it stands i cannot therotically build a home on my families land to capitalise on this advertising spend of the "TRNC"?

The taxes you pay geoff do not benefit the north, hence for any decent comprehensive solution the north needs to earn some money, or because the ROC is recognised and is quite well off meaning you are sitting comfortable you would like to see the tc starve on this side.
As for your above qoute the british line is to ease the tc suffering(the british goverment acknowledge this maybe you should too) and open routes for trade and flights etc.
Hence the GC make sure every concievable way is blocked for us as to keep us as poor neighbours but even the E.U they joined is now trying to stop their monopoly over cyprus and make it a fair deal for all.

I fail to see how you came to this conclusion. I wish nothing of the sort to any living being.

If my government beleives that opening of direct trade routes and flights to the "occupied" areas then i will actively fight it as i beleive it to be a contradictory action against the UN resolutions (partly quoted below) that my government has previously agreed with.

I would propose to you that the reasoning behind the global RoC effort is not to keep TC people as poor neighbours. The effort is focused on removing the partition on the island through a plan/agreement that will be acceptable to all effected parties whilst working inside the UN resolution (partly quoted below)

Geoff

If you want to play blind to the tc cause and suffering then there is nothing i can say to convince you but at least the british goverment and the E.U and u.s are aware of our plight and want to ease it, this has nothing to do with solution as you have stated.

Tourism is a source of income that would help the tc but the blocking of all other help by GC admin. is eating into our human rights, but like i said when you are sitting in a relatively rich state with your belly full it is easy to condemn the poor and isolated tc.

I am under the impression that Talat had said that administration of global aid packages via the RoC was not acceptable. How have the "GC Admin" blocked it ?

I am also under the impression that trade of natural resources is possible through the RoC ports. How have the "GC Admin" blocked it ?

Joint administration of the Famagusta port is also something that has been tabled but not agreed on yet ? Have the "GC Admin" blocked this as well ?

I am more than willing to fight FOR measures that will benefit the TC people as long as they are inline with the UN resolution (partly quoted below).

Yes i can sit with "my belly full" in the UK, however I beleive that the "direct to -TRNC-" measures are not going to assist in a unification of the island, quite the opposite.
