i want to know more about Dimitrios Yuannides . i beleive he is supporter of papadopulus.

Dimitrios Ioannides was one of the dictators who participated in the 1967 junta. As head of the military police he was in a key position in the junta and in 1973 he overthrew Papadopoulos and became the de facto leader, although Papadopoulos remained the figurehead of the junta.

Ioannides was above all an anticommunist to the point of psychosis. His actions can only be understood in this light, and it is probable, though not proven, that he agreed to a the partition and double union of Cyprus.

In 1975 he was jailed for life for treason and he is still in jail. He refuses to talk about his part in the junta and the Cyprus affair.

Another junta leader, Stylianos Pattakos, is a fervent supporter of Papadopoulos. In 2004 he sent a telegram to Papadopoulos proclaiming him a "worthy son of the motherrland".
