hi carol,
thanks very much for all this help. we are determined to do this move with as least problems as we can have. i have been looking at a lot of the cyprus forums and have since decided not to bring the car. what i have read so far, makes good sence. also i read that it was best to rent first. i am also a bit dubious to buy somewhere, just incase anything goes wrong and we need to get out of the country quickly , or may just choose to move on. it isnt funny if you have a good chunk of your capital tied up in a property. we would rather , invest the capital and live on the interest, and pay the rent from this.
our only problem is that we have decided to do this, and sell our property at a time when the market isnt moving. 100% mortgages are no longer available to first time buyers and this has stopped the starts of a chain happening.
limmasol sounds lovely. my dad was in the RAF, and stationed in limmasol during the very early 1060's, and i was conceived there, just before my mam and dad were due home. so i believe i started off life, in limmasol. i hope i dont die there aswell, he he he
we are from a small village near the border of durham and sunderland....herrington. my hubby is originally from south shields.
we have an 18 yr old son to take over with us, and his long standing girlfriend, and our 6 yr old son.
we plan on retiring, after working in our own business as mortgage brokers...we have had enough of it all.
our house has only been on the market for 1 week, so i shouldnt get to wound up yet.
our ideal location sounds exactly as you have described the area.
somewhere near a good school, near some shops, not dead but not too touristy, and pretty views. i suppose its what we all want.
i think we will decide to bring our own furniture over, just incase we cant help ourselves and end up buying. you know what the english are like when it comes to buying !!!
i just hope we will be joining you's very soon.
thanks again for your reply and advice. i do appreciate it.
regards
karen
