Well, if your Subject title is correct, does that make you a pathetic creature?

Dear Michael T

Forgive my sense of humour but 'Pathos' is 'a quality that arouses emotion', I think you mean Paphos (the English version of the name) or Pafos (the tansliteration from the Greek).

Come to think of it maybe you are coming here to 'arouse emotions' :D

ive just no idea what to expect from the place really. if i dont pass out from the heat you may see some tall untanned lad looking very lost and confused by everything around him!

You'll have a great time in Paphos

In May the weather wont be quite so extreme as in July or August, but you should still have a nice surprise when you step off the airplane. UV levels are already extreme, even in April, so make sure to take plenty of sunblock  . I think Paphos saw some days in the very high 20's last week, which is an early step towards summer.

Personally, I prefer to wander around Paphos harbour. I like walking down the promenade towards the Fort, stopping in all the shops and bars (Walk, drink.. drink, walk, drink.. drink, walk.. drink.. etc  ) - Quite necessary in the height of summer.. it gets hot up there.

If you fancied exploring elsewhere on the island, I'd recommend taking one of the jeep safari excursions, although I'm not sure which seasons these operate in. The last I did took us all around Troodos, Akamas, Turtle Bay, and back to Paphos. - Great fun :D

I've never been on one of these jeep safari's but I've had several of them almost drive me off the 'roads' in Akamas...

Paphos is great. you'll love it. Lots of ancient thingys around that you can check out.
Take a walk along the sea coast in Katw pafos by the harbour.
If you stand lucky and the weather is good, you'll love it im sure :)

Weather will be good in May, you'll like Paphos, it's a lovely place.

Watch out for those pests near the harbour who try to sell you timeshare by telling you that you've "won a bottle of wine" and all you have to do is go with them to collect - it's a total scam. Tell them to sod off the minute they try to talk to you! That's my advise!!
