Are we burying the skeletons, at last?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Are we burying the skeletons, at last?

Postby Bananiot » Thu Mar 20, 2008 7:18 am

Until yesterday, our version of history, of what happened in December 1963 was one of Turkish mutiny (Tourkantarsia, in Greek). Speaking at a press conference, President Christofias admitted yesterday that both communities must equally be blamed for the 1963 events which laid the foundations for our predicament today. This is unheard of, a Greek Cypriot leader, to accept the share of blame of his community in the events that marked our most recent past.

Christofias has gained my appreciation with this bold move. If Talat can be equally compromising then perhaps we may get a last shot at solving this long-lasting dispute in the best possible manner.

Banaiot, the GCs have always accepted their share of the blame. It is the TCs that refuse to accept theirs. Their only aim is to continue to spread the hatred because they don't really wany a united Cyprus.

Just ask you buddies, Zan, VP, Eric, Big Al, Halil, Gabira should I go on??

But yes it was a bold move, now its over to you, so let us see who you will blame now. I guess you could always still blame TPap if it makes you feel better.

Could you please provide a list of Cyforumers who agree with Christofias statement. (Excluding Miltiades and Bananiot).

If you were not so blind, you would have seen the attempts to balance the hate and propaganda against the TCs and not putting the blame on you. Just like those that are now trying to blame the whole thing on the Brits I have tried to strike a balance on what really went on. I am not the one that has the entire dead of GCs blamed on the Turks. There were thousands killed by the coupists and that is a fact that only explains what was going on and the denial of it can only be for one reason and that is to blame the whole disaster of the Cyprob on us and have done with it. Of course that way you can justify the stealing of our republic and making it into a Greek one so it is understandable but not excusable.

Great news Bananiot and well done to Christofias. I only hope that the actions will be as bold.

We never denied our share of blame in the 1963-68 conflict.

On the contrary it is the TCs who blame that conflict entirely on GCs, refusing to accept their own share of blame, and they also pretend to be totally blind about the beginning of the inter communal conflict in the late 50s. Even the Turkish invasion of 1974 they are trying to blame it on us by manufacturing totally untrue propaganda about TCs who were massacred and needed Turkey to save them, instead of accepting the fact that the partition of Cyprus has been their aim since the 50s and they found the chance to execute their plan while Cypriots where busy fighting the coupists.

Lets see when the TCs will "bury the skeletons". I doubt they will, since not only they deny the truth, but they even celebrate their crimes against us!!!

You are an absolute phenomenon pantheman.

You write your own stories, tell them and then pretend to believe them too.

Since when did you become the total voice and representative for TC's ? :?

It's not that TC's refuse to accept any share of blame, this has never been the issue...It's the selective blame forced upon TC's by the likes of yourself which is generally disputed. The engineered blame which appropriately suits your own agenda and perhaps most GC's and as a result, pisses you off that TC's will not conform to the GC agenda.

How frustrating your life must be, you terrible angry little man

If you disagree with something that I said then tell us what it is.

So what do you disagree with?
That TCs also have part of the blame for the 1963-68 conflict?

That you choose to forget how the conflict started in 1958?

That partition was your aim since the 50s and remains the same today?

That you manufactured propaganda and lies out of nowhere to excuse the illegal invasion of 1974, claiming that Turkey invaded to "save the TCs who were killed" while in fact no TC was killed in 1974 before the Turkish invasion had started?

We have no "agenda" on placing blame on you, since we do not want anybody punished, and we do not want to have any gains on the expense of others. All we are saying here is that you should see the truth about the past, and stop pretending to be the innocent victims, and presenting the GCs as the "evil race" which gives you the right to punish us and refuse to us our lands and our rights.

You have no such right and the earlier you stop the lame excuses for supporting illegalities the better.

In 1963, the GC run goverment tried to bulldoze the TCs out of the goverment by insisting on the 13 points.

You keep on ranting about 'partition' demands in 1958, yet fail to remember your Enosis demands from day one of British rule. Give us a break.

Have a lovely Easter.

If only everything in life were perfectly balanced, in harmony and equilibrium ...

Yes, blame can be attached to both sides.

One side (Ottomans / Turks) for invading and attacking a small country ...... and the other side (Cyprus), for not allowing itself to be annihilated, and daring to show resistance and defend itself.

There is blame for actions on both sides ... but it cannot be that both sides were right to do what they did.

Only one side had the right to do what it did ... to defend itself from the unforgettable invaders ... The Ottoman / Turks ....
