Height of fences

Postby viccottam » Sat May 24, 2008 4:22 pm

Does anyone know the rules on heights of fences as my neighbour
directly in front of me has erected a fence 1.800mts in height
completely blocking the sea views I had previously enjoyed I would
appreciate any advice on this matter I sent a letter to the Town hall in
April of this year but when I went to find out why I had not received a
reply they informed me that they had not receieved it although I have a
stamped copy of the letter. I live in Kapparis Paralimni.
Best Regards Vic Cottam.

Hi there Vic

Not too sure but i believe i read that on top of the normal concrete wall you are allowed a 1mt high wooden fence.

How high the concrete wall is i, again, am none too sure.

Perhaps others can come in on this one

Sorry Vic I think you are onto a loser on this one as I'm fairly sure up to 2m is allowed.

1.2m of concrete wall. Then some people put something else on top of that after the house is finished and passed all inspections, but I am not sure if that is legal. I think it is not!

I believe the law governing the height of (solid) perimeter fences is from the colonial days and is four feet...
This is the case in north Cyprus and looks like it's the same in ROC..

My understanding is that the perimeter wall can be 1.2m above the original soil level.

Then, you can add another structure to it but we were told that you would have to justify it. In Pissouri you need a higher fence to keep goats out so just about everybody has some form of metal balustrades or chain-link fencing on top.

And as Sotos says, once title deeds are issued you can do what you like.
