I cant help but wonder what would have happened if Turkey had a full squad yesterday. To come out with almost a b-team & make the Germans look average, is a great achievement & none of it was luck.
Was a nice touch at the beginning when the players made that anti-racism speech, but unfortunately only intelligent people are capable of understanding it, as is quite evident here.

Ps: Even more exciting than Rafa? You cant be serious!

I wonder what wouldve happend if Eduardo played for Croatia?? Or what would have happend if Frei played for Switzerland. All ifs and buts.

Did Emre make the anti-racism speach too?? He's the guy that said calling black players racist names was normol in Turkey.

After last nights match, the world knows who the better team was. Turkey can be proud of their squad. Well done Turkey. They have played better than I anticipated.

Its a pity some members dont see that. Their hatred blinds them. I pity them as they are sad people.

They havent got the guts to admit a good game.

Have a nice day all,as I am sure I will. Laughing

Regards

Turkey's not the first team in the world to lose a game they deserved to get more from. They won a few games this year that they didnt deserve to. Its football - big deal, get over it. I dont think Turkey have great players but they wanted to win more than the other teams which got them this far - the same as Greece four years ago (except Greece went all the way). The shame for Turkey is that the best young Turkish players play for Switzerland lol.

Oh well, Turkey reaching the semi-final will be forgotten about in a few years but Greece's name will always be on that trophy :D LOL

All we need now is Baghdatis to win Wimbledon : )

I wish Baghdatis well, if he is good enough.

I have got over it, tell that to Kurupetos.

Deniz,

Don't take it personal. Sorry if I was offensive  but it was just the joy of last night talking (and the german beer 8) ). I hope Russia wins the semi and the final as Russia is my auntland

Rumour said all cabarets will be close tonight as the girls will be watching the game.

Better lock up the girls then. 8)

If I remember right there was an instance in the SWI-TUR game where a turkish player(was it Emre :?: ) told a swiss black player something and the SWI player was like this:   I suspect it was a racist name.

With the above I do not wish to suggest that such events do not happen in Cyprus. :)

If you know the words Emre is allege to have used , could you please PM them. There may be words in any language which thre connotations have changed over the years. We should never condone racist behaiviour in any form. As kids we would collect "golly wog" stickers from jam jars. They were never racist then . Now you cannot even mention them, or the 'Black and White Minstrels'. Sad isnt it. Especially as I see in the B&W Minstrel show, an acknowledgement of the fact that 'black/African music has contributed to the world . :?

I don't know what he said and if it was indeed racist but it looked like that. It's not just for black people. Remember the Zidane incident in WC2006? I think the main reason players do that it's to demoralise and weaken their opponent so that they can win more easily. Anyway, I don't think Turks (in general) are racist since they have two black players in their squad. :)

I do remember the Emre incident. I saw the clips and it makes me cringe. Perhaps in a few years time they will all wear mic-microphones.

As far as I can remember, Emre was found guilty of calling a black player (I forget which team) a racist name in a Premier League match. He later made a statement that calling players such names were normol in Turkish football. I dont know what he called the guy but I think it was the second time such an incident occured with Emre.

As far as Zidane and Materazzi in 2006 - well Materazzi actually didnt say anything racist. He made a explicit comment about Zidane's sister. All the stuff about Materazzi calling Zidane's family suicide bombers were false.

Like I said only intelligent people are not capable of understanding.

But joking aside, didn't the English FA clear Emre of those charges?

No matter what, I still think the Turks were the most exciting team to watch & they didn't play defensively, like some other teams do, which is boring football.
