If there is a solution, the Cyprus National Guard will comprise personnel from all Cypriot citizens. This includes TCs, Armenian, Maronite, Latin and whoever else is a citizen and wishes to serve their country.

What do you think the Brits and US will think about that? This is going to destroy the virgin birth idea of 2 politically equal states uniting as 2 component sates to form a Confederacy dead in it's tracks.

The mistake Christofias is making is going round asking for help from those that ARE the Cyprus problem itself (UK, Turkey, Greece). This is a stupid move that almost EVERY GC president has made thinking that they can take advantage of any of these wolfs for free!

The ONLY way that Cyprus will ever find justice is by her own hand. She needs to build herself up incessantly in all aspects including, industries, military, culturally, and every other way possible thus constantly upgrading her negotiating and influencing power. A good non-60s ally like France must also be preserved and well managed.

It’s the Cypriots that will liberate Cyprus and not any foreigners.

Here's where your whole premise collapses

I am 100% certain such a fate for Turkey accessing the EU is not in the offing.

On that basis we are quite happy to carry on negotiating what is best for the RoC and not what suits some "community" pleading recognition now for "ethnic" ties ....

Go, tell it on the mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere
Go, tell it on the mountain,
The Turks are leaving town!

Yes, right, another post belonging to the 'Myth' section. You carry on girl in that mode, we've all had it.

I agree with you entirely. Cyprus needs to invest in technology, defence, industry and should participate culturally within the EU, much more than what it is doing at present.

However, we can not afford to polarise into an anti west, anti UK and anti US stance as it is this that landed us in today's mess. If Cyprus was not so much polarised into communist and extreme right ideologies at the time of the cold war, then Turkey would never have been allowed to invade Cyprus. I believe that we need to facilitate and allow the bases. Let NATO have the infrastructure to serve it's interests and this will give us the extra bargainning power that we require. Cyprus is way too small to be dictating to superpowers, because at the end of the day, they will just screw us and get away with it, just like they have done in the past.

Now hold on one minute I seem to be lost, since when have the British Bases been part of the Cyprus Problem?

Errr never!!! they were built in the 50's before Greek and Turkish Cypriots began killing each other and then managing to ruin their own country.

The Bases being here have nothing to do with the Cyprus Problem and never will be part of the Cyprus problem, so lets talk about the real issue, Cyprus does not need a Turk or a Greek or a Brit to protect anyside, they need to be Cypriots, and stop teaching kids in school to hate the other side and only tell there interpretation of the invasion..... Peace and tolerance people peace and tolerance.

If you're not prepared to confront and counter those that responded to YOUR invitation then post nothing at all, because childish generalizations like this belong to ATCA not the CF.
