where to learn how to drive a small motor boat?

Postby Laurore » Tue Jun 10, 2008 8:30 am

If somebody knows,

where I can learn to drive a small motor boat? (phone number, place, name of place?) Any info could be useful.

do I need to pass any exams to get the licence? where I can do it?

Is it possible to rent such motor boat somewhere in cyprus (for example for half day) if I obtain proper licence?

thank you very much in advance!

There is really nothing to learning to skipper a small boat . Rather how to react in the case of distress . As one can imagine there are so many ' what iffs " However a competent boat and registered captain who feels you are capable can sign you off for a six month period which would cover the public liability (this is often in your house insurance ) and allow you the time to deceide if you want to go through the entire process of obtaining an offshore grade 1 skippers ticket . I am a G3 - C1 Royal International Port to Port Captain and would be happy to assess your ability and sign you off (no cost ) Iff you want to continue and complete the required qualifications I would gladly take you through the process and show you how as much of the lectures here are in Greek . Much easier told to you in english .

Love the sea It has been a great life for me
