Arriving in Cyprus - Looking for Apartment for 3 months.

Postby Reza » Sat Jun 14, 2008 11:14 am

Hello Everyone:

Me and my family are originally from Toronto and I arrived in Kuwait for a short contract. My kids are suffering from breathing problems due to the dust storms in the area and I have decided to move my family to Cyprus for the next 3 months, till the end of my contract in Kuwait.

I am looking for a 1 or 2 bedroom flat, preferably within the 400 Euro range, for 3 months. We are going to live in a hotel for a week, and we hope to find something after our arrival (tomorrow) June 15th.

If any of you could assist me to look for a rental flat, or know of someone that is renting, please let me know as that is greatly appreciated!

My e-mail address is Reza DOT Toronto (AT) gmail DOT com.

Last but not least, we are also looking to make friends who has families and kids.

Best regards,
Reza.

Hi there Reza,

Would be good to know to which town are you going. Cyprus is indeed small but not that small :)

As for finding a flat for 3 months for €400, I'd actually be rather doubtious, regardless of the location. I hear people are paying that much for long-term rental deals (2 years+), and needless to say, a 3-month contract (especially now when the tourist season kicks in) is far more expensive than a 2-year one.

For instance, I'm paying €550 + common expenses for my one bedroom flat in Nicosia suburbs (2 year contract). Ok, it's a brand new building, the flat is nicely furnised etc. but it should still make my point. You could probably get a similar price for a 3-months contract but only for a flat that's either not very nice looking, in a bad area etc.

NB! While looking around, be sure to find out about the size of the water tanks your building has! As you might have heard, water is a huge issue in Cyprus right now and most larger flat blocks are affected by the water cuts.

Good luck!
