ECHR: CASE OF SOLOMOU v. TURKEY

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby repulsewarrior » Fri Jun 27, 2008 6:10 am

...and will shoot anyone indiscriminately in the process. And if you are Turkish saying a thing unbecoming like these men do not deserve to hold positions of authority because they paniced, or that they planned to fire weapons instead of controlling the event, you will be imprisoned, of course because it is unturkish

I really don't understand why you're all arguing. There are serious reasons and explanations brought forward from VP, Gav and Big Swingin Al that explain why both these men had to be killed.

He entered the trnc illegally
He tried to take down the flag
He knew the dangers

As a response he was executed following long deliberation from the military and political wings of the regime. To show how united the 2 were they even shared the responsibility of doing the killing. Those that saw the pictures posted before of the former minister of agriculture shooting while smiing will agree with me that this is a country that is very much united. (all that was missing was a member of parliament with an uzi and a judge with a bazooka)

As for the pinata beating (nice touch kikapu) you need to understand that when the 3 Turkish -cypriot policemen saw the man being beaten by a mob they decided that the only humane thing to do would be to take him out of his misery and not let him suffer anymore at the hands of the mob. Repeated beatings with metal rods on the mans head however were not doing the job and to the annoyance of the police force he would not comply with their safety briefings and mercy actions. A large rock to the head managed to kill the man.

Overall I'd say the Greeks stand a good chance in a war...it took 9 Turks to kill one Greek. Thats Spartan fighting by the Turks.

So, citizens of the world, please heed the advise of VP

Do not approach a turk during a tense situation you will be shot

Advise of Gav (hello pikey) " George W killed loads of people and no one makes a big deal out of that, we kill 2 guys and you're all going crazy"!

Or you may choose the advise from Big Swingin Al.." Touch our flag and you're hands will be chopped off"

I now understand that you lot are a peace loving people, which deserve your rightful place in the EU alongside countries such as Denmark and Luxembourg.

So basically you're saying that a penalty of death has been pre-determined as punishment against anyone entering the north illegally?

No need for me to shit myself as I'm a British citizen, one call from us and you'll be sent packing.

As for the Greeks, I saw that video of the guy chasing away the mob from attacking his friend. The crowd of 8-9 Turks started running away, once the Greek fell to the ground, they were all running back to kill him. Hmmm its clear which of the 2 sides has balls.

You didn't answer my question though, were is death implemented as an immediate punishment? I'm studying law right now and we like to talk in specifics.

its when you act in a threatening or abusive way towards us

does this include
1) being near an army camp while on holiday in the north?
2) Swearing at a Turk for getting cut off?
3) Stealing something from a turk?
4) Being an asylum seeker in the north?
5) Protesting near the green line?
6) Getting drunk and having a fight in the north?

which of these will also get you killed in the north? I believe your tourist industry needs to make this clear to people visiting.

Clutching at straws, if you are studying law you have to show more intelligence and stronger arguments than what you have been displaying, we have problems in the TRNC as you have put forward all the time, how many executions do you hear of? how many are murdered, works out some ratios in comparison to your beloved south Cyprus and you will soon find out who has he real problems, have you advised your tourists of the fights and rapes that go on? even today there was an article about child pornography going on in the south, must make you feel real proud.

You're trying to equate 2 public killings on tv committed by members of your government and leaders of your army and police force taking pot shots at an unarmed man with crime committed by criminals happening all over the EU ?

straws clutching?

A civilian minister of your government was filmed shooting an unarmed man FFS and you call it having problems?

Look at the circumstances, the explosive situation where everything was out of control it was hardly the correct situation to climb up a pole and rip down a flag which represents nationalistic and charged emotions, he went into a mind field knowing full well the dangers, why did he not behave himself behind the buffer zone? Why arent you also asking the question what the hell was he trying to achieve by rioting which is a form of war where there is no sense or reason people act on emotions and not clear thought.

why was he not arrested? Why did civilians have guns ready on the balcony? Why were Greeks shot in the south of the green line? Why did the Greek soldiers keep their cool and not fire back?

Lets be clear vp, I may be young but I know how regimes work. A show of force was felt necessary to stop all this bad publicity the demonstrators were bringing against the north. Something had to be done to scare the living daylights out of them. The Nazi's used to shoot the one on the right and the one on the left of a prisoner who attempted to escape.

Show of force.
