The GC women here are crazy. I wouldn't have the bottle to upset them, or risk upsetting them for that

Was actually wondering about human rights acts, if that could possibly be used.

Well if you got a court ruling deeming that single sex mandatory military service was illegal then presumably this female wrath would be directed at any politicans that suggest the answer was mandatory service for women and not the abandonment of mandatory service all togeather?

As I undesrstand it under EU aquis / laws it is not legal to discriminate on the grounds of sex. I am not a lawyer but this seems pretty clear cut to me.

you are right erol in terms of gender discrimination but where exactly is it applied to (don't know myself).

i also know that the eldest male is considered to be the "protector" of the family according to the law in Greece (and Cyprus I presume). for example if the father passes away then the eldest son is not requried to do military service.

can it be consdiered discrimnation that the eldest male is the protector and not the eldest person of the family (whether its the mother or older sister)?

the reasons for women not serving are 1)financial 2)women are the ones who give birth and increase the population, their lifes should not be put in a risk in case of war or a conflict bc the nation would not be able to increase its population again
