Wedding in Protaras

Postby caznewcastle » Sun Sep 07, 2008 12:29 pm

Hi everyone. New to this board and wanted to ask if anyone knows if its possible to carry a wedding dress on board plane as hand luggage. My son is getting married in Protars next week and we fly out for our first visit to Cyprus on Wednesday.
Would appreciate any informatio please. Also, has anyone attended a wedding at Sunrise Beach Hotel.
We are all starting to get very excited for our trip, especially as the weat
her here is so dreadful.
:)

I'd ring the airling if I were you. I'd think they would be very helpful.
I once took a three tier wedding cake on a plane as hand luggage but that was some years ago.

Thanks. Maybe with all the increased security these days it will not be allowed but its worth a try.

You would really have to check with the airline.

My bride wasn't allowed her dress, because it was quite big, although we were able to take the flowers etc on.

On the same flight a bride was allowed to carry on her dress, but it was very slim and was similar in size to a light summer dress.

be on the safe side and pack it into a case. don't leave it to chance at the airport

Thanks for the advice. I think we will pack it up just to be safe. :)

The majority of aircraft used on short-haul flights lack the space of larger aircraft (don't wish to state the obvious!!) but even they have a limited amount of hanging space in the cabin.
I suggest you contact the airline as far ahead of your departure date as possible, and request hanging space onboard. Considering that you wish to use the hanging space for a wedding dress, I would imagine you'd stand a good chance of being accommodated.
Good luck, and good luck also for your son's wedding!

we flew to cyprus for a wedding last sunday and thyere were about 3 or 4 people boarding the air craft with wedding dresses in small suitcases or suit bags, and 1 of these people was the bride we were travelling with, so you shouldn't have a problem.
good luck with the wedding.

we flew with Eurocypria airlines so if you are flying with them you shouldnt have a problem, but just to put your mind at rest, check with your airline.
