Internet Charges Going Up?

Postby Mike West » Thu May 26, 2005 3:18 pm

Hi folks,

Not sure if this has been covered, been out of Cyprus for a while and coming back during June. Is there any truth in the rumour that CytaNet are doubling the price of internet connections?

I reserve my comments before someone answers

Thanks

Not doubling, sextupling when browsing p0rn! :D Seriously, 50% increase in DUN as from 1 June. Ostensibly to drive people to ADSL, even when 80% of the land surface cannot get it.

That's outrageous... and totally counter to the normal run of things... in the UK as more people moved to broadband, the price of dial-up reduced and recently they've tripled the speed of my broadband connection for no extra charge (250kb/sec download now :D )

Ha! typical, they got us dial ups by the balls haven't they, I'll think I will demand my 'Alien' deposit back which is now illegal under EU rules. Your right, if they are running a campaign to get everyone on ADSL, wouldn't it be better if they actually spent some money on additonal ADSL equipment and expanded the network. Afterall, all those 'Alien' deposits they been sitting on for years must of accumalted enough interest to fund building a decent ADSL network.

Dream on.
Correct me if I'm wrong... Cyta is still a semi-government organization and every year the goverment takes 25-35% of Cyta's profit to avoid it's (govmt's) budget deficit.
