George Michael ~ Famous gay singer, George Michael (Yiorgos Panayiotou) is half Cypriot.

Cat Stevens ~ Stephen Georgiou's mother is Swedish and his father is Cypriot. He sensationally converted to Islam, against his original Greek Orthodox beliefs.

Jennifer Aniston ~ 'Friends' and Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston is the daughter of 'Days of Our Lives' actor John Aniston (Yiannis Anastasakis) and American model Nancy Dow. Her godfather is fellow Greek actor (Aristotelis) Telly Savalas, who played Kojak in 'Kojak'.

Peter André ~ The famous London-born singer, who later re-located to Australia, had a short time in fame in the 1990s, and later re-gained what he wanted by appearing on 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here' after sensationally falling in love with bust model Katie Price, who he plans to marry as she is now pregnant with his child. His parents are Cypriot.

Elena Paparizou ~ Born and brought up in Gothenburg, Sweden, to Greek parents, Elena shot to fame with fellow bouzouki-playing Swedish-Greek friend Nikos Panayiotidis in their band, Antique, which came 3rd for Greece in Eurovision Song Contest 2001. Elena has since split from the band while it was on a high, and is persuing her singing dream alone. She won Eurovision 2005, bringing the show to Athens in 2006.

Tommy Lee ~ Rock star Tommy Lee was born in Athens, Greece, to Welsh soldier father David Bass and Greek model mother Vasiliki (Voula) Papadimitriou. He famously married porn star and model Pamela Anderson, but their marriage came to an end due to drugs, drink and fighting.

Kalomira Saranti ~ Young, pretty Kalomira was born in USA to Greek refugees, who ran a restaurant. Deciding that her dream was to sing, Kalomira entered 'Long Island Idol' and came second. Still persistant on achieving her goal, she went to her native Greece to win 'Fame Story' (the Greek version of 'American Idol'), and she is currently there with a high status and the singing career she always wanted.

James Alexandrou ~ The actor who plays Martin Fowler in popular British soap 'EastEnders' is half Cypriot, and flies out to Cyprus often.

Nicky Clarke ~ Famous hair stylist and hair product maker Nicky Clarke's mother is Cypriot.

Maria Callas ~ Opera singer Maria Kaloyeropoulos spent most of her life in Italy, where she married.

Aristotle Onassis ~ Starting his career washing plates in a café, Aristotelis Onassis became the richest man in the world, marrying president John kennedy's widow, Jackie. He had a long fling with singer Maria Callas (Kaloyeropoulos).

Pete Sampras ~ Famous tennis player Pete Sampras was adopted by Greeks.

Anthony Kosta ~ The parents of this boy band singer are Cypriot. He sings in the group 'Blue'.

Prince Philip ~ His Royal Highness is the son of Greek-Russian Prince Andrew (Andreas) of Greece and Danish mother Her Serene Highness Princess Victoria Alice Elizabeth Julia Marie of Battenberg :!: After attack by Turkey, Prince Andrew lost his throne and faced death until the British secured him and his family a safe place in France. He turned to drink and gambling, while his wife (now known as Princess Andrew) had a nervous breakdown. Their son, Prince Philip, lived in Denmark for awhile before safely being sent to England in an orange box, where he went on to marry Queen Elizabeth II. He naturalizes to a British citizen and officially signed away all connections to the Greek and Danish thrones.

WRONG.

kalomira wish she won 2nd place in american idol.
she won 2nd place in a small competition called "long island idol" the winner of which went on to perform at the opening act for a britney spears show.

Theres famous people from all ethnicities.

infact, just to be FAIR...did you know that Ali Campbell from UB40 is half Turkish Cypriot.

and who's that big famous Rock guy in the 60's who is Turkish???

pete sampras is not actually greek,he is brazilian adopted by greek parents in the united states.....
i didnt know that about tommy lee.......
oh....and kalomoira among famous greeks?this is a joke right?

Why is it a joke? Kalomira is famous, maybe you don't like her but she's still famous.

I don't know why I made this thread, it's interesting because I didn't know how many people were actually Greek in Hollywood and in various other celebrity scenes.

More to the point, how can he dare put PETER ANDRE!!!!!!!! in any list... I'd be embarrassed to call him a compatriot the jumped-up little weasel...

Plus I notice he forgot people like Plato, Aristotle, Thucydides, Pythagoras, Leonidas etc. etc. The majority in the list above are trifling celebrities who no-one will remember in 50, let alone 500 years time. I exclude Telly Savalas from that description, who was a total legend in Kojak... :D
