They are not racist or fascist...thats rubbish. No Greek school tells us to go and hate every Turkish person or be violant to them. They simply teach a simplified version of Greek history, none of which is untrue though. Which parts of the Ottoman opression do you think are untrue?

The only way Greek schol history is biased, is for example when they teach about Alexander the Great and describe him as a champion of Greek people and generally a great man. Well yes, he crushed the Persian empire that was occupying the Greek lands..but also invaded many other lands. I havent got tunnel vision about Alexander the Great and dont think he is the good and briliant man he is made out to be.

Greek schools in this country are not facist and would not like to see more rumours spread about this.

i must say during class you wont hear any teacher saying to kill turks etc. however during breaks if you asked a teacher they would say how their parents were thrown out their homes and their brothers killed in the invasion. they give their point of view, just as they saw it

Realy? there is also truth, like greeks in Istanbul or cyprus prefered Ottomans instead of latins. You teach also this facts?

Or Greeks also killed murdered, raped in anatolia and in balkain. But no Turk hate greeks that much. Because noone tell them this much. You should realy think what is wrong with Greek education system. maybe Its aim is not create hate, but It realy create.

this maybe true but the reason people dispise what the turks have done is because we were well into the 20th century and they still have disgraceful human-righs record.

i know we are in the 21 century but only just so....

Cyrpus may have prefered Ottomans to Latins...but the Ottomans still screwed us over...but was is the point of that question? Thats just being technical for the sake of it.

and yes we know there are Greeks in Constantinople who mix very well witht he Turks from the same area...but there are also Greeks in turkey who are restricted to go to church because of stupid laws in that country that make it hard to maintain a priesthood or keep churches to look in a dignified standard.

Dont start questioning the Greek education system... and spreading more rumours about Greeks being blood thirsty...just to make the current occupation look like a 'peace-operation'...besides, shall we talk about how much crap is taught in history in Turkey??? Like saint Nick being an 'early Christian Turk'?

so yeah...dont start spreading your crap about Greek schools teaching facism etc. My mum teaches Greek dancing at many Greek Schools and she does not work for facist or racist organisations.

Gul, the politician guy went on Turkish TV...with a stupid grin on his face and mentioned how saint Nick was an early Christian Turk and even tried to start a press campaign to change this...I have seen the articles. It no lie that all the Greek pieces of heritage in Turkey are either atributed to other supposed peoples in Turkey or are just called 'early Turkish Christian'.

FOR CHRIST'S SAKE WHEN WILL YOU TURKISH-CYPRIOTS UNDERSTAND THAT MY GREEK SCHOOL IS NOT IS NOT IS NOT IS NOT IS NOT IS NOT IS NOT IS NOT IS NOT TEACHING ME THIS :!: Every single Turkish-Cypriot I have spoken to has this attitude of NOT LISTENING to what I say :!: I came to these decisions, my Greek school was giving me just a short, un-biased run-through of the Turkish invasion centuries ago. So when they tell me about the Ottomans invading, that's racist, fascist, and biased is it :?:

I fully agree with Main_Source.

And, OK, if the Turkish-Cypriots are Cypriots, then since when after the Ottoman invasion were the then-Turks classed as Cypriots?

Leon.

Leon, thanks for your support lol...but give up on Cypriot compared to Turkish cypriot thing. They're decendants have been living on the island for a few hundred years...and like I said before, they're decendants may have been Greek. Some people dont belive in the term Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot...but simply Christian Cypriot and Muslim Cypriot.
