Cyprus' Religious Cultural Heritage in Peril

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby shahmaran » Mon Jul 27, 2009 6:10 pm

That is absolute bull shit Oracle.

You have no evidence to prove that it is their "ultimate aim", which is not because many places of worship from many religions still exist in Turkey and people use them daily.

Most of your religious crap has been destroyed because we have no reason to take care of your shitty Church just as you don't have any reason to fix our Mosques. Most of them are beyond help anyway and still exist in many places, they should probably be knocked down as they do cause a risk. Fair?

I would be pretty pissed off if my tax money was being spent on the refurbishment of unused Church as I am pissed of to see it being used on the making of more needless Mosques.

And thanks, Halil. Were you thinking of those three Karaokcu articles on the condition of Turkish Cypriot villages in the South?

No Samarkeolog , this is a new book published last week by TRNC presidency office and it can be obtain free of charge from the Talat office .It shows all the latest condition of the 34 Turkish Cypriot villages with pictures and details of the villages in Turkish and English . The book has been given to all diplomatic missions around the world .
Also there is a attached Cyprus map that shows where and at which coordinates these villages were located because some of them completly disappear .

Oh but Halil, Oracle insists that it is us who are on a mission to completely wipe them off the map, how can all this be?!

What do you call the enforced, violent ethnic removal of 99% of the GCs from the north? -- Was that "aimless"?

Why are they bothering to change all the village names in the north? -- Are they just playing a giant game of "Scrabble" ?

Why are they selling off GC homes?

Why are they bringing in hordes of Settlers from Anatolia?

Add all that to the systematic, state sponsored, continuing destruction of the cultural history of the GCs ... and only a rat-arsed, half-brained twit (not saying you are) would fail to see the ultimate aim of the Turks ... and only you could have the audacity to deny such a process!

Why don't you tell me, shah -- since you seem to be in the "know" -- what did the Turks do to the Churches in Western Armenia?

No? You didn't say that 'this is where numbers would serve a purpose, if only to shut you up with trying to make out the magnitude was the same'?

By saying "numbers would be useful", it did not mean I was asking you to provide some fudged statistics.

Fudged statistics? Your own government's statistics! And a bicommunal architectural survey...

I've already pointed out to you how difficult it is for the RoC to complete their assessment of the destruction in the north.

But they obviously had information on all 520, because they published information on all 520; and they even had lots of information and photographs before the line opened; so it couldn't have been too difficult.

And the more important point, which you ignore, is the continuation of this destruction by Turkey, until they can completely erase the history of GCs. So we are just seeing a "work in progress". The Turks have not completed their task of destroying ALL our heritage. But you cannot deny that is their ultimate AIM. The Turks have done this before with the Churches of Western Armenia, at least!

Once again!

Once again what?

No, no, no. I promised myself I wouldn't waste my time with you any more.

Good night.

I've visited some of them. Unfortunately, the Turkish paramilitary unit that detained me in south-eastern Turkey took the camera with the photos of those and some Kurdish villages.

Indeed! Only time on the CF will teach the young orange picker to see past his Ottoman nose…
