Summer temperatures (Troodos)

Postby Simon H » Wed Jun 29, 2005 8:39 pm

We are planning a trip to the Troodos Mountains during our holiday in the first 2 weeks of July. Now this might seem a daft to those of you who already know the answer, but what day time temperatures can we expect in the mountains? And what would the 'wind chill' factor be like for the occupants of an open top car or jeep? Should we bring our winter woolies?

TIA

Temperature would be around 35 in July. I dont think that it would be that chilly that you will need jackets.

Contrary to Yiannis' advice (sorry Yianni), the temperature up in Troodos on hot days can be about 10 degrees cooler than at lower altitudes, in early July it'll probably be high 20s. As a result, it will feel perfect during the day, but at night you will feel a lot colder. Also, if you're in an open top car or jeep, make sure you wear a strong sunblock and protection for your head, the UV in Troodos is a lot stronger than on the coast so you're more likely to get either burned or sunstroke.

One thing is for sure though, Troodos is probably the most relaxing place to be in Cyprus during the summer.

Yup, higher the better. I was Christened at Pedoulas, so I tend to go there for a couple of days if we're there in summer.
