Cypriot makes it in men’s high jump final

KYRIAKOS IOANNOY – BERLIN – FINAL

Cypriot athlete Kyriakos Ioannou qualified Wednesday for the final in men’s high jump in the World Athletics Championships, currently underway in Berlin, Germany.

Ioannou, with a 2.30 metre jump, which is the qualification standard, ranked first in the qualification round and the only athlete who jumped 2.30 in his first attempt.

The men’s high jump final will take place on Friday.

Kyriakos Ioannou was born in Limassol. His personal best jump and Cypriot national record is 2.35 metres, achieved at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka where he won the bronze medal.
