So from a moose in a can, I've gone to being a big horney sheep in a tin... classic... nice one AA

Going back to my previous post, has anyone got any perspective on what I wrote, I'd be interested to know if I've got it right or if I'm way off the mark on that.

Having met and spoken to a lot of relatives involved in various businesses and employments in Cyprus over the last couple of months the underlying theme appears to be that since EU membership earning potential has decreased dramatically. In one case a cousins husband has for years earned CY£4000 per month but now struggles to earn CY£1500 and that is with an increase in working hours to try and compensate. I am pretty much sheltered from the effects but it would appear for the majority of those I know things have taken a dive.
I am lead to believe that tourism has seen a 30% drop in capacity and operators are holding out to try and sell the remaining 70%. I do hope this is but a temporary glitch but the last three years have not been great I am told. A common complaint here appears to be that Cyprus has become far too expensive compared to other similar destinations closer to Northern Europe. Let’s hope it all settles down.

Cyprus has become ridicously expensive for what is offered in other surrounding destinations for much much cheaper...... Limassol is basically dead as a tourist resort now...... incomparable to what it once was despite the infrastructure improvements (which some view as a disadvantage for a loss of "culture")..... restaurants in the tourist area (lim) serve crappy food at outrageous price and the touts on the street don't help either.... I know many people that used to come every year who have now decided to stop coming....

EU sucks..... cigarette prices have doubled!

Oh well.....
