The law on child car seats

Postby janeho » Tue Oct 13, 2009 6:40 pm

Hi
we are coming to Cyprus for a holiday and have hired a car.
Could anyone tell me what the law is with regard to children and booster seats in Cyprus? In other words how old/ tall does a child need to be before it is lawful for them not to use a booster
With thanks in advance for any help

Use it as much as possible. As long as the child can strap itself in and keep itself strapped then it's ok not to use one, otherwise, it's strongly adviced to use one. More for safety reasons than being lawful, if you go by that, you'll be ok with the law too.

Enjoy your holidays! :)

Thanks
I've managed to fit both boosters in the bag so we will be bringing them. Like you say its safer and anyway they get a better view out of the window.
The eldest child at 9 is borderline in the UK for being lawful not to use a booster, but the younger (age 6) is below the height restriction and its much easier to do the same for both than to try and reason why one needs one, but big sis doesn't!

Whatever you do make sure you're safe, law comes second :)
