I counted those trees so many times. My intention was to count them all the way to Larnaca. When I came to Goshi, I always lost count.

The driver would bore me (us). He would drive his Peugot 403 25 mph Saving fuel. After Goshi, I was never bored. The white chalk hills would fascinate me. It is nice to see that these once naked hill are now being planted with trees.

The trees along the Larnaca/ Nicosia road were originally planted to provide shade for the Phaetons/faytons before the advent of motorised vehicles. When cars became part of the landscape these trees caused not a few deaths (causing accidents. Many were chopped down, supposedly to make the roads safer to travel on. I suspect the Yfredo clan had a 'Gamini' business. I was counting the missing trees.
