I would take it as it was intended, as advice from a mate who doesn't want to see someone get banned. If you want to take it another way, that's your choice.

In response to city's post, I admit that I was one of those who went on and on a little more than I should about the gay thing.

I apologize to Main_Source and vow to cut it out.

On the general topic of moderation, I think it's being taken way too literally. Moderators are not supposed to censor or prohibit freedom of speech, but to ensure that irrelevant and/or offensive posts are deleted and members warned. No more. My advice to moderators (excluding cannedmoose, for I have not had the pleasure of seeing him in action) is to lighten up, folks... A good joke or a short remark doesn't necessarily ruin a conversation.

Also, if I may say so myself, I believe the selection of certain forum members as moderators is at best unfortunate.

As a Moderator, let me come to the defence of the Moderators; so far I have deleted only one posting - an extremely offensive remark about another member. I am sure all (sane) members would have done the same in my position.

There is not rampant moderation on this Forum, but the envelope of good taste was being stretched and I guess Admin, felt enough was enough.
We had reached the stage were I think we were 'losing' members, whcih would have been a great shame and made the Forum less rich in ideas and contributions.

Given the number of postings each hour, it is unsuprising that Admin just asked a few folk to 'watch the shop'
