Lets make it easy, If they need us, they will accept us. If not they will not.
This is same for you. IF we become more richer we wont give any shit to EU.

For EU culture, no we are not European.

So, can you name one reason why a political/cultural/financial union like EU would like to accept a country which still hasn't managed to solve its own issues with its neighbours into this union?

Remember ROC? So It is complately related with benefits. I dont care If we enter EU or not, But we need 10-15 years, so I hope EU will give us it. After a more powerful Turkey, EU can go to where she wish. I dont care, There is not much at Europea, core of power is changing to Asia. And They is the reason why EU need us. She is trying to reach asia.

IF YOU READ ORIGINAL POST I SAID THE U.S. AND TURKEY.

DURING WW2 IF IT WEREN'T FOR AMERICA DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT THE ALLIES WOULD HAVE WON AGAINST THE NAZIS?

DURING THE COLD WAR WHAT COUNTRIES WERE MOST INTRUMENTAL IN COMBATING COMMUNISM. IN THE KOREAN WAR, AND IN VIETNAM.

58000 AMERICANS DIED FIGHTING FOR DEMOCRACY IN VIET NAM NOT FOR OIL AND CERTAINLY NOT FOR RICE.

Welll!!!!! [b]Even now Turkey is threating Greece with war if it extends its terretorial waters to what its legal allowed to!!!!! And I'm not just saying EU countries I meant all countries!!!! This is the 21st century war doesn't work anymore. Turkey is 30 years backwards socially.

Also from what I've read I see a very imperialistic attitude from Turkey!!!???

Also what's wrong with communism?????

Finally Greece has done so much for peace in Europe and all the countries backstab it in the end (with the exception of France) so what should Greece do isolate itself. No it still extends a friends hand to everyone.

Over what time period are you talking? As far as I can see there is not a modern nation state in the world (let alone Europe) that has (sucsessfully) expanded its territory at the expense of it's neighbours from it's original terriotry at the time it gains it's nationhood than Greece.

If the measure of 'expansionism' is the extent to which a nation has managed to sucsesfully expand it's national borders from the extent of them from the point at which it became a nation, then Greece has to be, historicaly, the most expansionist nation in the region and EU if not the world.

Russia, Syria, Iran, Armenia, Turkish and Iraqi Kurds and until recently Greece. They have constantly been fighting for survival and are always being manipulated with bullshit promises. The latest being membership in the EU.

Let's just think for a moment that you are right in claiming that Turkey is surrounded by hostile countries/nations that are after it...

So, can you name one reason why a political/cultural/financial union like EU would like to accept a country which still hasn't managed to solve its own issues with its neighbours into this union? Why should we "share" your problems with your neighbours (especially when we're talking about Asian /non European countries)?

Perhaps you should try and solve your problems with your neighbouring countries first (if these problems exist in reality) and then talk about EU admission...[/quote]

Turks do not negotiate with terrorists (Iran, Syria, Iraq).

Fi,
1.Have you been in Turkey recently??
2.Yes we would open a war against Greece if they extended their territory, and why would that make us imperialistic, they are the one who are expanding their territory not us.
3.Where do you read from?? I mean I would read all kinds of negative stuff about every single country in the World, but I also read the positive stuff, which you do not do for Turkey.
4.The more you are pushing us to the limits, the more powerful the come back will be, Turkey is on the edge of being a very powerful country give it 20 years and you'll see!! Some of the stuff that comes out in Europe is not true, they are outrageous, DON'T push us to the limits...
