Egypt cruises

Postby JamboJoe » Thu Jul 21, 2005 4:40 pm

Hi,
We visit Paphos in 6 weeks and are keen to do the 2 day cruise to see Pyramids. I see there are 2 companies which do this. Does anyone have any opinions which is the best? From what I see it appears that Salamis are a bit more expensive that Louis, but may well be a better ship.

Any opinion or advice on booking to get best discounts would be greatly appreciated.

Can say the same about the Salamis Glory. Have been on it in the late 90ies and it was really nice. Don't know about now...

Isn't the Atalante from Paradise Cruises going as well?

They have a shared website here: http://www.cruisecyprus.com/

Maybe its of any help. (probably you've come across it anyway)

Thanks for the replies I tried the link to Paradise Cruises for the Atalante but it says they are not operating and was transferred to Salamis.
I will wait until I arrive in Paphos until I decide which one to take, I would still be grateful for any other opinions and advice where to book the trip.

Try and get hold of the Cyprus Weekly as they carry regular adverts from all the lines with discounts etc for their cruises.

In the current Cyprus Weekly, the cruise to Egypt was the only one not being discounted.

It is an amazing place: the pyramids, Sphinx and the Cairo Museum (Tutenkamoon's Head).

Isn't that just typical.....mind you they say Beruit is a nice place. Bet thats discounted.........more trouble over there I see....

Personally , whilst I enjoyed Egypt the nearly 3 hour coach drive was a bit OTT, especially with the guard and his Uzzi. (16 to 650 rounds per minute)......awesome.

Hated the pesterers as well.

Not a bad boat though.

Stay in Cyprus, cheap food, sunny, good beer, pretty girls, bars, clubs, ancient ruins (no, not me silly) , excellent beaches, go karts, water parks, mountains and of course the green line.

Now if you find the green line you get a "Brucie Bonus"

I have been looking for years and I reckon they ran out of green paint cos I can't find it.

Paradise Cruises stopped operating near the end of 2004. They sold their ship and had trouble purchasing a new one (not financially). Whether they try again is a different story.
