According to the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, it is illegal to enter the island by any of the ports in the north, including Ercan/Tymbou airport. However, the Republic of Cyprus is now a member of the EU and the EU acquis concerning free movement of people takes priority over national law. This explains why, if you are an EU passport holder, you can arrive at Ercan airport and cross with impunity to the south, despite this technically being illegal. I personally as a permanent resident of the RoC respect and obey all the laws of this country so do not travel from the ports in the north, but this is a personal decision.

There are two different bus services to Larnaca from Nicosia. The long established bus service between the two city centres is operated by the Green Bus Company, and is a daytime only operation with about six journeys per day. It leaves from Markou Drakou Square in Nicosia, which is about 10 minutes walk away from the Ledra Street pedestrian crossing point. This bus will take you to the very centre of Larnaca for about five euro, but the last departure from Nicosa is I think at 1600.

The buses that run until late in the evening are the new airport shuttle buses. These do not depart from Nicosia city centre, but from near the International Conference Centre in Aglantzias Street. They run directly to Laranca airport and do not take you to the centre of Laranca. If you wanted to make your journey in this way, you would have to get a taxi in Nicosia to the departure point and another taxi from Larnaca airport to Larnaca town.

I hope this information helps a little.

By the way, I believe that there is no public transport from Ercan airport.
There is a public transport between Ercan-North Nicosia.

Thanks for correcting me. I know there was an airport bus and they stopped running it some time in the 1990's. That was a long time ago and I do not know the current situation.

Including the naughty speeding (only by a little) parking on yellow lines (not often) driving under the influence (only a couple of beers)
If you can put your hand on your heart and swear that you have never done any of the above, then you can truly say you "...respect and obey..." ALL the laws of Cyprus.
