The inter-communal apologies thread…

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Piratis » Sat Jun 19, 2010 4:28 am

If you were wittiness in a murder and you remained silent then you have a responsibility. If you were supporting crimes, even if you didn't commit them yourself, then again you have responsibility. But you can not hold innocent people responsible just because they are of a certain nation, race or community. So what we should all do is acknowledge the crimes and suffering that occurred in the past. Those who should apologize are only those individuals who were involved in one way or another with the cause of those crimes and suffering.

Beyond that the leaders can also apologize for the wrong doings committed by their side in general. So far Christofias is the only one who did this.

I would have to agree with you.

I was very resentful when Australian PM Krudface apologised on behalf of all
Australians for the suffering of Australian Aboriginals, since I and most other Australian citizens had no role in their suffering and were not even alive. He should have acknowledged their suffering but not apologise. Krudface does not have any right to speak on my behalf.

However, acknowledging any suffering or wrong doings is an entirely different matter, and I believe that President Christofias has done this, but sadly, this was not reciprocated by the TCs.

You could promise to not kill anyone should Cyprus be united, like Kafenes and I! A very easy promise to keep and an acknowledgement with no apology!

Words are cheap. Who knows the scenarios which face us? I do not condemn anyone for defending themselves. I hope I would have the strength to defend my family if I had to. TCs do not get any special dispensation. They are treated as equal, not 'better', in my books!

If there was ever any hint in my character that I would voluntarily hurt even a fly, then I would rush to allay the fears of those around me. At the moment I live with the ridicule (in my village) of "fearing to tread lest I squash an ant"!

Milti .... yes snails are great, but do be wary of the garden ones cos they may have a lot of garden pesticides and chemicals in them. Not sure if you can purge them of these by feeding them on greens or flour for a month in the usual way.

G , all my years in the UK I never once tried them but having done so I found they are absolutely delicious . I don't use pesticides and when I first gathered them I put them in the shed for 2 weeks , fed them with lettuce and flower.
I will now do so regularly !!

Former? :? What do you think they're still doing in the 21st century in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc?

Ah yes! All well and good, but the least you could do is promise you won't eat any TC babies just like Bill! This would really mean a lot to BIR!

I suppose you are going to tell us you're a vegetarian now....
