OUTDOOR ADVERTISING LAWS IN CYPRUS???

Postby Main_Source » Tue Aug 02, 2005 6:56 pm

Does anyone know the official laws on street postering / fly postering in Cyprus??

Or flyering??

Or are there any pirate radio stations??

Just questions for an idea I have.

To the best of my knowledge, there are no pirate stations....

Fly posters became illegal about 18 months ago along with unauthorised road side ads.

illegal or not, I still see posters on the side of the road everywhere.

I don;'t think it really matters if something is illegal or not in Cyprus. people will still keep doing it!

There are designated sites which have planning permission, but fly or permanent signs with no planning are illegal and the councils (community boards) have been pulling them down.

Yes and now councils will take legal action against fly posting.

Like I said in another thread...I should go over there and show people how to promote events effectively.

I'll tell you now, NOT to use the Electric Authorities poles for flyers, posters, ads or any other form of promotion. They have instructed us (we pay rent to put our cable on their poles) to take down any such form and hand them in to them for legal action. A couple of their technicians have suffered cuts from these things, so they are trying to discourage people from using them.

thats no problem...anywhere that I can either tightly staple two card posters together would do.

I used to do a lot of work for a major record companies street team...which was basically street promotions. I know quite a lot of the old tricks.

I've even bribed policemen with free CD's before lol.
