Do you guys have this series in Cyprus. Mega channel in Greece plays the series twice a day and everyone is hooked on it. It's quite nice and funny.

The ironic thing is that you have Greeks and Turks living together but god forbid greek cypriots and turkish cypriots ever live together

You're correct- Turks use abi and Cypriots use "gardesh"
Abi is a dirivitive of Agabey (the "g" is a silent letter) which means older brother.
The Cypriot expression "Gardesh" is a guttaral form of "Kardesh" which simply means "brother"

i knew i remembered that i have a turkish pen pal where i do my best to teach him byzantine greek and he does his best to teach me pick up lines in turkish for the turkish chicas
