Opening a bank account

Postby monkeyp57 » Wed Aug 03, 2005 11:11 pm

Hi people,
Can anyone please give me some advice on the above, can you open a bank account in Cyprus without being a resident? :?

My husband and I are over in Cyprus next week looking at rental properties and wondered if we could open an account whilst there, is there a minimum amount you must deposit?

Hope someone can help, just thought it may be easier than trying to arrange something when back in the UK.
I would have thought they would have to have some ID and signatures, which would have to be verified before the account could be used.
Any info welcome :)

Hi,

Yes you can open a Cyprus Bank account without being a resident.

you will need passport/s , for single or joint names. Recommend joint saves hassle if a partner dies.

You can open a sterling account and Cyprus £.

Where are you looking to rent, how long for and what type?

Thanks H for your reply,

We are looking at properties in and around Limassol/Larnaca initially for a 6month period detached minimum 3 beds.
We can then take our time in choosing a permanent home, if we settle and our children are happy.

My husband and I thought the above 2 areas would be better for us trying to gain employment. Which of course will have real bearing on our remaining in Cyprus long term.
