Burning of Greek flag

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Bananiot » Fri Oct 08, 2010 10:23 pm

Find out for yourself Paphitis, do some reading for a change. Read a creditable history book for example, "Polemos and Ethnokatharsis" would do for starters, containing real stories written by real Greek soldiers who took part in the Asia Minor campaign of the Greek army.

You can also find this in the afore mentioned book. When the front broke down and the Greek soldiers made their way in an unorderly manner to Smirni, they looted and burned every single Turkish village and town on their way. Turkish planes dropped leaflets on them that read: Coward Greek soldiers. Do you realise that your PoW's will reconstruct everything that you are now destroying when the war is over?

and what should happen when 3 backpackers lower the largest flag, cut it in 3 and each one taking a third as a souvenir?...

1...off with their heads?
2...shoot them?
3...life sentence?

what should the authorities do?

Yes I realise that there were many Aussie POWs, RAAF Airmen included, which were partly responsible for revealing many things about the Turkish Army, its mass deportations and Death Marches. We also had many missing in action, never to return to Australia as they probably died in forced labour camps!

Are you trying to convince me that Turkish Planes dropped leaflets and not bombs? Have you been to Canberra? If so, then I hope you had visited the Australian War Memorial and Museum!!

Bananiot is trying to convince us how humane and honorable Ataturk and the Ottoman Army were, when compared to the barbaric Greeks.

Fortunately Bananiot, there were many eye witness accounts of Turkish Humanity and Honour. Eye witness accounts from British, Australian, French, Indian, Kiwi POWs and from US diplomats and consular officials!

It seems that it is you that needs to do some more reading!

Bananiot, did you know that the Armenian Holocaust began in Gallipoli right in front of the ANZACs who didn't know what was going on and thought that they were being attacked by Turkish Soldiers?

Who was the Commanding Officer of the Ottoman Troops? Who started this holocaust?

Paphitis, I am not trying to convince you about anything. You can believe whatever you like, it's your problem. I have learned very early in life that you cannot have a meaningful debate with arteriosclerotics.

Barbarism was exhibited by both sides during the Greek Turkish war in Asia Minor. The Greek army started it first on day one of its arrival in Smirni. Some shots were fired from the Turkish quarters and the Greek army went on a rampage. The Turks burned Smirni at the end but before that the Greek army burned to the ground whole Turkish cities and villages. The Greek soldiers were looting the houses first, sending staff back to Greece! On many occasions Greek units fought internal battles as to which will be privileged to enter a Turkish village first. On one occasion, as a Greek soldier wrote to his parents, his unit went into a village after another unit swept through. The village was burning but they still hoped they would find something the other unit left behind. The soldier with some of his mates knocked the door down of a semi burned house. They found a scared old woman with a child clinging on to her.

"Efendi, the child cried, ekmek istyior?" (Master, do you have bread?) The child was starving to death.

The above and many other similar stories are found in GREEK BOOKS and this shows that the Greek public is coming to terms with the real world at last and as the National Greek poet said, truth and only truth, serves best our national interests!

Please ignore the above Paphitis, they were not meant for you, I would hate to destroy your stereotype, Greek good, Turk bad.
