SoEasy or normal GSM?

Postby Olga » Sun Aug 21, 2005 2:28 pm

Hello!

I use SoEasy cards for my mobile phone.
I talk quite a lot and call often abroad.
I was said that I would save more if I change to normal GSM (I mean when I will get a bill in the end of every month).
I am not sure whether I should do it.
Is it true that I will lose my number in case I change?
I would like to know your opinion!

Thank you!

Personally, I prefer using SoEasy, purely for the fact that you are in total control as to how much you spend rather than getting a nasty suprise at the end of the month. I'm also one of these people that like to talk alot on the phone, so my personal favourite is SoEasy!

The benefit of SoEasy is that it is ... so easy :D No need for a contract, no need to pay bills. You can buy the number and the re-charge cards from anywhere at any time. Really easy. The other benefit is that nobody knows who owns the soeasy numbers and you have more privacy in this way. But when it comes to cost then soeasy is not the best choice. If you talk a lot then you can save a lot by switching.
Hazza, did you know about this: http://www.ebill.cyta.com.cy
There you can see the cost of your calls and there are is no surprise at the end of the month

Hi Olga

You will save money by switching to a subscription phone but unless you own property here, CYTA may require a substantial deposit. At one time it was £1000!

Thank you all for the information!

I did not know about the deposit.
Do you know, Svetlana, if Areeba also asks for deposit?
If I switch to a subscription phone will I have to change my phone number?

Hi Olga

Cyta used to ask for a£1000 depsoit from foreigners, unless they had a property purchase or long term rental agreement, they could show. Sorry, I do not know about Areeba.

Actually the 1000 deposit has been removed.

Has been changed to 100 or 300 - I forget

Such deposit is necessary. Otherwise a foreigner can come to Cyprus make 100s of pounds worth of phone calls and then disappear.

Deposit or no deposit AREEBA IS MUCH BETTER than Cyta, for their pay-as-you-go service and their pay-monthly service.

AREEBA PAY AS U GO
-------------------------
Mobile to Landline: 3.6cent p/m

Mobile to Mobile (Cyta): 3.6cent p/m
Mobile to Mobile (AREEBA): 3.6cent p/m
***Top up with 250 SMS with an Areeba booster card –text only- for only CYP2***

Cyta SO EASY
----------------
Mobile to Landline:4cent p/m

Mobile to Mobile (Cyta):4cent p/m
Mobile to Mobile (AREEBA):4cent p/m

AREEBA ROCKS

I disagree....

Originally I was with Areeba, but had several problems (drop outs, distorted lines, unable to get a line, etc....)

Sure Cyta is a little bit more, but service wise it is superior
