very good of you to say so VP... if you don't mind my saying. Very much in keeping with the views am hearing from other CYs suffering under the Turkish Occupation.

Suffering? this was a private companys incompetence and lack of respect.

Erm ... isn't the word "suffering" one that's used to describe matters in the Occupied Areas VP?

... whilst being respectful of your own personal feelings on the matter, wouldn't you agree that it's inconceivable that a private Turkish Company would come along and apply to build a hotel on the site without the building permission of the Illegal Regime... or are the Stolen Areas some kind of Lawless Wild West???
Bill C/Erections/Zoots,
Its not as if this thing only goes on in Cyprus, there have certainly been cases in the UK, where buildings which have had preservation orders placed on them have "Accidently" been demolished at the behest of a developer, how about the demolished Mosques in the south, are they ALL still standing and treated with respect????, wake up, smell the Kahve and deal with it

Presumably another despoilment of the CY coastline, and say that as someone who condemns the environmental degradation of much of the coastline of the Free Areas.

Am however pleased to hear that they will be made to rebuild the Chapel.

Gawd... another one from the I'll poke you in the eye if you poke me in the eye so we can all go blind way of thinking.

Mate... have only visited two mosques in the Free Areas of the Republic, one at the western end of the Phinikouthes promenade in Scala and the Tekke at the Salt Lakes near there... both in first class order and very popular amongst the faithful.

As to matters in GB... perhaps you can remind us of consecrated, two hundred year old churches being demolished please, cos the only case that springs to mind is the demolition of Coventry Cathedral ... by the Nazi Luftwaffe in WW2.

(who the blooming hell is Zoots and Erction????)

I would expect to arrested and punished, but if no real application of the law is made, what do you suggest we do?

Another bloody Hotel?
Another screw up TC's nether regions.
Stepping up the Embargo's inflicted upon TC's. While TC owned hotels are suffering for lack of tourists and going bankrupt, the turks build more hotels, using their own manpower and importing their own tourists, often free, so that they can use the casino's.

TC's can 'lick their palms'. Gıbrızlı Türkler da avuçlarını yalasın.

Ahsiktirsinler hepsi da.

Nothing surprises me anymore.

This destruction Ag. Thekli/Thekla - of our cultural heritage (of all Cypriots) is shameful and must be stopped.

How weak are UNESCO, the UN, EU fcs. Strong measures should be taken against the persons responsible or even states responsible for this destruction.

I invite all TC's to condemn such behaiviour.

ÖZERSAY COMMENTS ON CHAPEL DEMOLITION

http://www.brtk.net/index.php?option=co ... &Itemid=28

The President’s office has reacted to the demolition of a historical chapel on the Bafra coast. The President’s Special Representative Kudret Özersay said that they were following closely the developments on the issue.

“Such an action at this day and age did not suit our country” he said.

Meanwhile, one person was arrested by police in connection with the incident.

Commenting on the issue, the President’s Special Representative Kudret Özersay said that such careless actions against historical monuments and sides was unacceptable and would not be tolerated.

Özersay said that they were following the developments closely and that one person was arrested in connection with the incident.

He expressed the view that those responsible for such actions should be punished by the law.

The Special Representative also reminded that the President, as a person who approved the urgent restoration of a large number of historical monuments and sites, was deeply disappointed by the incident.
